Groups are intentionally small because the programme is designed to be connecting and safe.

Each group is closed for the year – meaning new people don’t get added in.

The course is intended to provide:

  • Professional development.

  • Personal development. Although the group isn’t a therapy group, the course may provide insights and awareness into self.

  • Connectivity with other counsellors. A confidential space to share with similar professionals, who speak the same language and understand your work-life.

An opportunity to learn TA

TA was designed by its originator Eric Berne, to be easier to understand than many of the theoretical approaches that came before. However, it’s simplicity ends there; it is a powerful approach full of depth, that can bring about transformational change when used well.  This training teaches TA from beginnings, then moving into further exploration. It is designed to be inclusive of everyone’s starting point. We bring theory to life with experiential learning – no dry, academic lectures!

Being and belonging

Anchoring Support

Counsellors often report that they are grateful for a space to continue developing personally and professionally after their core counselling training. Counsellors often benefit from the connectivity of a training group, where they get to know others and a supportive, safe space develops. The fortnightly regularity of this course can feel anchoring.

Connection and holding

Counselling can be a lonely profession. We often work alone and then can’t discuss our work at the end of the day, due to confidentiality boundaries. Counselling can also be tiring work; we hold people’s distress, contain their affect, soothe their pain, navigate transference… Without space to re-resource ourselves, burn-out can quickly build. Whilst the CPD group has a topic for the evening, it is also a place of connection with colleagues. A place of care, where your work is understood and you can receive a level of holding.

Inclusivity

Facilitation of these groups is neuro-affirming, LGBTQ inclusive and recognising of intersectional identity and the marginalisation and oppression that can occur for people.
